Personal or Team Accountability In Multi-Level Marketing – Which Is More Important?

2 min read

Personal and Team Accountability Are Both Keys to MLM Success

You’ve started your own network marketing business. You’ve teamed with a great company who has products you believe in, you’ve made your time commitment, and you start to generate interest in your business. You’re enthusiastic, you sell some product, maybe even add a few people to your downline. It seems you’re putting a lot of effort into your new business. But after a couple of months, you think “why am I getting nowhere fast?”

The vast majority of those who start an MLM business fail – historically as many as 95%. Some lose their investment entirely, some break even, some even make a little money.

There are a number of reasons why.

Many MLM’ers may not succeed because they don’t pay attention to a key component of their business. Accountability.

Webster’s defines “accountability” as “an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility or to account for one’s actions”, “to be accountable or answerable”.

You may think – “It’s my own business, I’m independent, who do I need to be accountable to?” The answer is you.

The Importance of Personal Accountability

Many of us have used day planners, call logs, activity reports, and all manner of reports to track and manage our day, and report to our bosses who we have seen, what we sold and what we accomplished every day or week. Wouldn’t that be a good idea for you and your business?

Daily goals and visualization go a long way to creating a thriving business. What’s really needed is a format to track this information. Some of you may have trackers for your business. Do they incorporate your goals? Do they help you have a clear picture of your business? Are they simple and easy to use? If not, look for one that fits your needs, and use it religiously.

Team Accountability Is Just As Important

Multi-level marketing, along with practically any other business, functions best if the drivers and the followers all know where the team is going. Communication among team members is crucial. Communicating to your downline is just as important – just letting them know you are there to help them in any way possible can be motivating. Remember, if your downline succeeds, you succeed.

Personal and Team Accountability – can they work for you? Absolutely. Be dedicated, work hard and be accountable. Do it, and be amazed at the results!
